My TV Drama : Skins series 3

Skins is a BAFTA-winning comedic teen-drama that follows a group of teenager from Bristol, England, as they grow up. Now in its third series, the show was created by father and son television writers Bryan Elsley and Jamie Brittain for Company Pictures, and premièred on E4 on 25 January 2007.

Skins revolves around the lives of a group of 16–19 year-old friends who live in Bristol and attend the fictional Roundview Sixth Form College. Each episode has a self-contained theme and focuses on a different character, although several story arcs span different episodes. Accompanying the episode title at the beginning of each episode is a short montage of that episode's central character.

Series 3 started on the 22nd January 2009 and has a new cast of characters. This is the series that I will be analysing each episode of over the coming weeks.

What is TV Drama?

Tv drama is a scripted piece of television that is normally fiction, but sometimes based on fact, real events or literature. It is usually shown in mini-series or as long one off programs that are of a similar length to feature length films. Unlike sitcoms, tv drama does not often revert to equlibrium and has one main plot running through series and sub plots for each episode. Some examples of series are Heroes and Life on Mars. One off specials include 'My Boy Jack'(ITV, 2007) and 'Goodnight Mister Tom'(ITV, 1997).
